How long will it last? +
We use 2ml total per liter of brew water. Most people we know use more Jamm and Tonik than Lylac. We did the math for the kind of coffees we feature, and if you use Apax only for the subscription, a CORE set will last 20 months and a NANO set will last 4 months (and you'll still have some Lylac left over!).
How do I know which minerals to use? +
Our brew cards include recommendations for which water recipe to use.
Do I really need 3 different minerals? +
No — especially when adding them to water with a low-PPM baseline, such as Third Wave Water or even a lot of cities' tap water. That said, we think you'll love having all three. We've found that blending profiles often results in a more harmonious cup.
Why we're bringing Apax to the subscription
Fun fact: before Apax Lab powered 4 World and 300+ National coffee champions, The Bean Archives was actually their first-ever US stockist.
Our first experience with Apax Lab was the Tonik that came together with the POMA experimental box set we got back in June 2024. It completely elevated our home brewing experience, and we've been using it ever since.
Over time, we've come to appreciate how it lets us dial in specific water recipes for different coffees without going down the rabbit hole, and offered the flexibility of doing post-brew mineralization, which has been clutch for some of our Aiden brews that have a low ppm baseline made with TWW.
But more than anything, this is about you, our community. The question we keep asking is: how do we give our community one collective experience? And this is our way of getting one step closer.
